What is Ikoride?
Ikoride is an electric mobility platform based in Kenya. We provide lease-to-own electric motorbikes to riders and offer full support including insurance, battery swap access, maintenance, and digital fleet management.
How does Ikoride work?
We offer electric motorbikes on flexible lease-to-own plans. You pay a small deposit, make daily repayments, and own the bike after the agreed loan term. We also support businesses with fleet leasing and tracking.
Who can apply for an Ikoride bike?
Anyone who meets the following criteria:
Kenyan national (18+ years)
Valid national ID and KRA PIN
Motorcycle (Class F or G) driving license
Certificate of Good Conduct
Active in delivery or boda boda work
Willing to make daily payments via M-Pesa
What’s the minimum deposit?
KES 5,000 to get started. We recommend a total of KES 20,000, but you can pay the remaining deposit amount gradually during the loan period.
How much are the daily payments?
Daily payments range from KES 550 to KES 750, depending on the bike model and repayment term.
How long is the repayment period?
Our standard term is 18 months, with an option to extend to 24 months if needed.
What happens if I miss a payment?
You’ll receive SMS reminders and grace periods. However, repeated missed payments may lead to temporary bike lockdown or repossession as outlined in your lease agreement.
Can I pay via M-Pesa?
Yes. All payments are made via M-Pesa Paybill. Payment instructions are shared during onboarding.
What bike models are available?
We work with trusted manufacturers. Available models vary by region and stock but all are electric and swap-ready.
Do I have to charge the bike myself?
No. All Ikoride bikes are compatible with individual manufacturer battery swap stations. Just visit a nearby station and swap your battery for a charged one.
Is the bike insured?
Yes. All Ikoride bikes are insured for:
Accidents
Theft
Fire
Third-party liability
Do I need to pay for the insurance separately?
No. Insurance is included in your daily payments.
Who pays if there’s an accident?
We share the cost of the insurance excess:
50% paid by the rider
50% paid by Ikoride
Unless the accident was caused by rider negligence.
How are claims processed?
Claims must be reported within 24 hours. We aim to resolve claims within 14 business days with the help of our insurance partners.

What if I’m not in a SACCO?
No problem. We can help you join a vetted SACCO or cooperative that supports riders.
How long does onboarding take?
If all your documents are in order, you can get your bike within 48–72 hours of approval.
How do I track my payments and bike status?
We provide mobile-friendly tools via SMS and WhatsApp. A Rider App is also in development.
